Cloxacillin is a semisynthetic antibiotic in the same class as penicillin used against staphylococci that produce beta-lactamase.
It has a weaker antibacterial activity than benzyl penicillin, and is devoid of serious toxicity except for allergic reactions.
Ampicillin + cloxacillin capsules are used to treat respiratory tract infections, ear, nose and throat infections, pelvic infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and gastro- intestinal infections.
