Fig(Ficus carica) Plants of the Mulberry Famayli (Moraceae) and its edible Fruits. The common fig is Indigenous to an area extending from Indin, but natural seedlings grow in most Mediterranean countries; it is eultivated in warm climates. In the Mediterranean region the fig is so widely used, both fresh and dried, that it is called “the poor man’s food.” The fruit contains significant amounts of ealeium ,Potassium, Phosphorum and Iron.

The high fiber content in figs helps in maintaining a healthy digestive system, thus also aids in preventing constipation. Fibers are essential for maintaining regular bowel movements and food sources such as figs are found to help in easing digestion when consumed regularly. Dried figs are a good source of calcium.
