Description:  Artesunate injection is belong to the class of Anti-malarial drugs, it is an antiparasitic injection to treat malaria caused by a plasmodium parasite, transmitted by the bite of infected anopheles’ mosquitoes. When infected mosquito bites a healthy person, it transmits the Plasmodium parasite into human bloodstream which affect the red blood cells and liver cells.

Symptoms of malaria usually starts in 10 days to 4 weeks after the infection which includes chills, high fever, profuse sweating, headache, vomiting, abdominal pai, diarrhoea, anaemia, joint pains etc.

Usages: Artesunate also used with other combination medicine to treat severe malaria in adults and children

Dosage given of artesunate 2.4mg/Kg body weight through I.V or intramuscular in cycle of 12 hrs, 24 hrs and once a day is the recommended dosage in low transmission area.

Artesunate injection is used to treat malaria not to prevent malaria. Artesunate injection administered as an injection by health care professional or professional nurse or your physician

Side effects:  Most of the side effects of artesunate injection don’t require medical attention they disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine but make sure to bring to notice to your physician if they persist. Headache, dizziness, vomiting, weakness, loss of appetite, pain in injected part, swelling etc are the common effects
