Asitomycin contains Azithromycin as the main active ingredient, which is a macrolide type antibiotic. The tablets work by restricting the growth of bacteria to treat various infections. The medication is prescribed for treating certain bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) as well as infections of the ears, sinuses, skin and throat. The medicine can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
