We are pleased to introduce ourselves as the leading supplier of the above product, which is used to maintain the Power Factor (PF) above a specified limit. ELITE APFC Panel has a Micro-controller based Programmable Controller, which switches the Capacitor banks of suitable capacity Automatically, in multiple stages by directly reading the reactive load (RKVA) which works in the Principle of VAR Sensing, tends to maintain the PF to 0.99 Lag. The capacitor banks may be selected in number of stages as 4/6/8 according to the load pattern. The TNEB is installing the Digital Electronic Energy Meters for Power and Welding Service consumers having 25HP and above, which has the provision of showing the PF and insisting to maintain the average Power Factor above 0.85 Lag.

WHAT IS POWER FACTOR (PF)? Power Factor is the ratio between the energy drawings (KVA) and the effective energy utilized (KW) i.e., PF=KW/KVA

WHY POWER FACTOR MUST BE MAINTAINED? By maintaining a better PF we can reduce the energy drawn (KVA), thus reducing the current passing through the electrical circuits to the maximum extent possible (even up to 50%) thereby reducing the down time, reduction in heat losses in turn increases the life of the equipment.

Otherwise, for every reduction of 0.01 from 0.85 up to 0.75 PENALTY is 1% and below 0.75 it is 1.5% from 0.85 of the Current Consumption Charges (KWh) on your Electric Bill.

INCENTIVE is also given by the Electricity Board when the PF is maintained above 0.90 @ 0.5 % for every increment of 0.01 on your Electric Bill.

HOW TO MAINTAIN THE POWER FACTOR? According to the load pattern, proper Capacity of Capacitors to be connected. The value of the capacitors to be connected will vary with respect to the load and its existing PF. There are two ways to maintain PF

1. Fixing the capacitors permanently at the load end or at the mains, generally which is recommended for the fixed loads like Pumps, fans etc., and it is not possible for the loads which have variations in the load and PF.

2. The Power Factor can be maintained by installing ELITE AUTOMATIC POWER FACTOR CONTROL PANEL.

Voltage: R, Y & B Phases, Amps: R, Y & B Phases
Present KILOWATT (utilizing current)
Present RKVA demand (Required capacitors to attain UNITY power factor)
Present KVA (drawing current),Present Power Factor (PF normally 0.99lag)
No. of capacitor Banks ON or OFF,Provision to indicate Imbalance load
Provision to indicate the change in phase sequence
AEE’s PF Controller has built-in protections for High voltage cut-off
AEE’s PF Controller has built-in protections for Low voltage cut-off
The values and stages can be made as per customer’s request
Higher Capacity Panels up to 450 KVAR can be supplied against Order

3 Nos of C.V.T’s (Current Voltage Transducers) of ratio 1:400
CAPACITORS of SIEMENS – EPCOS make – MPP type – 440 V / 50 HZ – Delta connected
CONTACTORS to switch in & switch out the capacitors of ABB / SCHNEIDER/BCH make
fixed individually to all the stage capacitors at 440 V / 230 V AC coil.
MCB/ 3 Pole as Incomer of ABB / SCHNEIDER make.
Provision of INDUCTOR COIL individually to all the capacitors to cater the in- rush currents.
To Maintain the OPTIMUM POWER FACTOR load balancing to be
Carried out in your Premises compulsorily.
After providing our APFC panel the readings of KWH, KVAH, Pr.PF, Avg.PF from the
EB meter has to be given to our office once in a week to monitor the improvement of PF.
