Contact SupplierAzadirachta indica, commonly known as neem, is a native to the Indian sub-continent, and is extensively used in Ayurveda and homeopathic systems of treatment, for its medicinal properties. The fast-growing and long-lasting tree grows up to a height of about 15 m, with a straight bole and spreading round crown. The bark is dark-brown and moderately thick, with wide longitudinal fissures. The pinnate leaves measure about 20-40 cm in length and the dark green leaflets are approximately 3-8 cm long. The green Azadirachta indica flowers bear an resembling to garlic, and turn yellow, when they ripen. The single or double seeded fruits are elongate-oval, smooth, and measure 1.4–2.8 cm by 1.0–1.5 cm. Azadirachta indica seeds are covered with a brown colored seed coat, and are elongated in shape. For successful germination, the seed cover is removed, and the seeds are sown in moist sand or agar at a temperature of 25 or 26°C. Azadirachta indica is useful for a wide variety of medicinal uses for its antibacterial, therapauptinc and healing properties. Every part of the tree, including its, bark, leaves, roots and seeds are used in the treatment of different diseases.
