Bacillus Thuringiensis

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is a species of bacteria that lives in soil. Bacillus thuringiensis is widely used in agriculture for the control of insect pests. The bacterium produces an endotoxin which is found in a crystalline inclusion. In addition to the toxic factor, other proteins are involved in invasion of the host and blocking the host’s immune defences. The proteins are not toxic to all mammals; it cannot get activated in the mammalian system
