One of the two bearings in the rolling, or so-called antifriction, bearing class (the other being the roller bearing) is the ball bearing. The purpose of a ball bearing is to minimize frictional resistance to motion by joining two machine parts that move in relation to one another. A permanent housing serves as one of the members in many applications, whereas the other is a spinning shaft.
