The term Bentonite was first used for a clay found in about 1890 in upper cretaceous tuff near Fort Benton, Wyoming. The main constituent, which is the determinant factor in the clay's properties, is the clay mineral montmorillonite. This in turn, derives its name from a deposit at Montmorillon, in Southern France. Bentonite presents strong colloidal properties and its volume increases several times when coming into contact with water, creating a gelatinous and viscous fluid. The special properties of bentonite (hydration, swelling, water absorption, viscosity, thixotropy) make it a valuable material for a wide range of uses and applications.
FOUNDRY : Bentonite is used as a bonding material in the preparation of moulding sand for the production of iron, steel and non-ferrous casting. Aditi Product bentonite has higher content of montmorillonite, better green strength and hot strength, higher swelling property and better heat stability. Using Aditi Product Bentonite can reduce the dosage of Bentonite and water content of sand system, increase the intensity and flexibility of moulding sand, improve ventilation apparently improving the quality of the cast and reducing the waste.
OIL WELL DRILLING / PILING & CIVIL ENGINEERING : Aditi Product Piling Grade Bentonite is pure sodium based Bentonite. Aditi Product It is processed from selected ore with high montmorillonite content. Piling Grade Bentonite contains more than 85% smectite, the active clay content as determined by colloid and x-ray diffraction. It is used to improve pellet quality and durability, to reduce caking or crumbling of the feed. It improves feed flowability. The advantages of animal feed Bentonite are:

It absorbs excess water in the digestive tract, thereby making the feed contents thicker and movement slower in the gut. This allows more time for the animal to extract the maximum nutrient from the available feed.
