Beta Carotene, For Supplement

Hailed as one of the most powerful antioxidants, beta carotene is still a popular supplement with many people. It was one of the first phytochemicals to be mass-produced because research showed that it had remarkable antioxidant activity. This means it can neutralise free radicals, the unstable molecules that constantly bombard our cells.
A natural form of beta carotene that is extracted from the pink algae Dunaliella salina, which is specially grown for this purpose and so the beta carotene is very similar to that found in vegetables. This means that in addition to the beta carotene there are a number of other natural carotenoids included. Beta carotene is found in leafy green vegetables and in carrots and it is converted into vitamin A by the body according to the individuals needs.
