Packaging DetailsBhima Dark Red: The bulb of this onion is dark red in color and can be planted in Kharif and Rangda seasons, its weight is 110 to 120 grams, after preparing the onion seedlings, its maturity period is 100 to 110 days and it is suitable for immediate sale in the market. Due to the uniform color of this bulb, it fetches a high price in the market. Its production is 20 to 25 tons in Kharif and 40 to 45 tons per hectare in Rangda season. The onions are dark red in color and round in shape, so it fetches a good market price. Seed treatment: Treat the seeds with Thiram, M 45, Roco, Bavisstein, Radomil Gold at 3 grams per kg. Care to be taken while preparing the nursery: Organic matter-rich, sandy loamy, well-drained soil (pH 6 to 7.5) is suitable for Kharif onion nursery. The soil should be slightly sloping. This facilitates drainage of excess rainwater. Deep ploughing and harrowing of the nursery area should be done as required. This will help in reducing soil erosion and also reduce the incidence of weeds, fungal diseases and soil borne insects. Various fungal diseases (Rhizoctonia, Phytophthora, Pythium and Fusarium etc.) are likely to occur in the nursery. Seeds: 8-10 kg of seeds are required to replant onion in one hectare of area. Before sowing, seed treatment should be done with 2-3 g of Captan or 2-3 g of Carbendazim per kg of seed. Seeds should be sown 1 to 1.5 cm apart in rows. Put it on the depth. Keep a distance of 5 to 7.5 cm between the rows. After sowing the seeds, give a light layer of rotted manure or fine powder of compost fertilizer on it and then give it a light water. To prevent the spread of weeds in the nursery, 2 harrowings with the help of a hoe are effective. If weeds are to be controlled with the help of herbicides, spray pendimethalin 2 ml. per liter of water on the field before the seedlings emerge as follows Pest-disease management: Flower beetles are the main pest in the onion nursery as well as in replanting. For its control, spray 1 ml of fipronil (5 SC) per liter of water or 2 ml of carbosulfan (25 EC). During the rainy season, use stickers along with it. For control of black and brown rot, spray Mancozeb 2.5 gm per liter of water 20 days after sowing 19:19:19 (N.P.K.) and micronutrient mixture (Zinc 3% Iron 2.5%, Manganese 1%, Copper 1% and Boron 0.5%) should be sprayed after knowing the deficiency level or as per the advice of experts. Light watering should be given 1 to 2 days before transplanting the seedlings for planting. While replanting, one third of the top of the grown seedlings should be cut off. Replanting Generally, after the seedlings are 40-45 days old, they are replanted at a distance of 15 x 10 cm. Fertilizer and water management: 150 kg nitrogen, 50 kg phosphorus, 80 kg potassium and 50 kg sulfur per hectare are recommended for onion crop. It is also necessary to apply 1 bag of 10 kg of other micronutrients available in the market per acre. Chemical fertilizers should be supplied within 60 days. Onion crop requires less water but regularly. While onions are growing, water them abundantly at the same time. Watering should be stopped 2 to 3 weeks before harvesting onions.
