A Borewell compressor pump works by forcing compressed air into bore through a pipe. The compressed air and water mix together resulting in a mixture that is less dense than the surrounding water and therefore flows upward through the pipe.

When comparing to a submersible pump a borewell compressor has the following advantages,
1.Can work in saline water (salty water) effortlessly compared to submersible pump that has salt sedimentation on the impeller if not used regularly, can cause breakdown.
2.Borewell compressor can work if muddy or dirty water.
3.In a borewell compressor, no damage is done if there is no water in bore. In submersible there are chances where the pump will dry run and cause motor failure.

5.Cost of repairing a submersible pump is very high as the pump will have to be pulled out from the bore. But the borewell compressor is always on ground level so any service can be done quick and cheap.
6.Borewell compressor is preferred in areas where there is a chance of bore collapsing. The submersible pump cannot be pulled out once the bore has collapsed.
Despite the many advantages of borewell compressor there are few drawbacks such as, lower discharge compared to a submersible and high noise level if not isolated properly.
