Mucunapruriens belongs to family- Leguminosa, is a plant from India- particularly in the tropics- and is also found in tropical regions of Africa and the Caribbean. Mucunaalso known as cowhage or Velvet Beans, is a bean that grown from trees and is very itchy to touch due to serotonin on its surface. It is a good source of L- DOPA which is also known as Levodopa. This is a dopamine precursor and also used as a pharmaceutical to treat Parkinson’s disease. Mucunapruriens is primarily sweet and bitter, and is quite warming.
