Letter	Coefficient of Friction
D	Over 0.15 but not over 0.25
E	Over 0.25 but not over 0.35
F	Over 0.35 but not over 0.45
G	Over 0.45 but not over 0.55
H	Over 0.55

This will help us to identify the part number quickly and save your time in rechecking with your customer.

• The friction code has two letters. The first reflects the normal coefficient of friction, the second reflects the hot coefficient of friction
• The coefficient of friction levels are obtained from the SAE J661 test procedure.
• The normal friction level is established by averaging four readings taken from 200 to 400F from the second fade.
• The hot friction level is established by averaging ten readings taken from 300 to 650 F from the first recovery, second fade and recovery.
• Five separate SAE J661 tests are to be made for each brake lining material submitted for approval. The friction code designation is the average of the five tests.

The main types of rivets used in brake linings are :

• Semi tubbular
• Tubular
• Solid

Rivets are manufactured in brass, aluminium, copper, steel & barss, copper coated.
