Brake Parts

For brake application, compressed air is admitted to the piston moving it against the force of the compression spring. The piston rod is carried along at the same time and transmits the piston thrust to the brake rigging. For release the brake cylinder is exhausted and the compression spring moves the piston back into its initial position. The external rigging return spring provided in case of the B type cylinder ensures that the brake rigging with the piston rod follows the piston.
