Contact SupplierConstructing a house is a complex process that involves a detailed knowledge of architectural design, zoning regulations, building codes, and basic construction elements. The residential building contractors supervise the construction of individual houses and multi-unit housing projects. Commercial building contractors oversee the construction and remodeling of stores, hotels, malls, and other commercial projects. Most building contractors have their own companies and many of them worked in the construction industry before becoming successful contractors.
Building contractors are responsible for providing all of the material, labor, equipment, and services required for the construction of the project. The building contractors often hire specialized subcontractors to perform all or portions of the construction work. When using subcontractors, the building contractors are responsible for the quality of all work performed by all of the hires.
The building contractor's first priority is safety on the job site. The responsibilities of building contractors may include applying for building permits, advising the person they are hired by, providing temporary utilities on site, securing the property, managing personnel on-site, providing site surveying and engineering, recycling or disposing of construction waste, monitoring schedules, and cash flows, and maintaining accurate records.
