Bumetanide belongs to a group of medicines called loop diuretics or "water pills." Bumetanide is given to help treat fluid retention (edema) and swelling that is caused by congestive heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease, or other medical conditions. You'll usually take bumetanide once a day in the morning or afternoon. If your doctor prescribes it twice a day, take it once in the morning and again in the afternoon. You do not need to take bumetanide at the same time every day. You can occasionally take it at a different time if it's more convenient for you.
