C 172 Beryllium Copper is the most commonly specified beryllium copper and is available at Morgan Bronze in extruded and heat treated tubing. In its age hardened condition C 172 attains the highest strength and hardness of any commercial copper base alloy. The ultimate tensile strength can exceed 200 ksi and the hardness approaches Rockwell C45. This alloy is used as bearings for aircraft landing gear and pivoting members, bushings for tri-cone drilling bits, pressure housings for precision magnetometers and other instruments, as well as resistance welding applications.
