A cement autoclave test measures a cement's ability to resist volume expansion, also known as **soundness**.
This test is performed on cement that contains more than **3% magnesia**.
How is the test performed?
* A **25 mm × 25 mm × 250 mm** mold is made from lean cement
* The mold is filled with neat cement paste
* The mold is removed from a moist atmosphere after 24 hours and measured for length
* The mold is placed in an autoclave at room temperature
* Four sides of the mold are exposed to saturated steam
