Rice Flour Chakli

Chakli is a savory, deep-fried, crispy spiral snack popular during festivals like Diwali. It is known for its crunchy texture and can be made with various flours.

Common Ingredients:

• Flour: A mix of rice flour and gram (besan) flour or a pre-made chakli bhajani flour (which often includes roasted rice, urad, and chana dals).
• Spices: Red chili powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida (hing), salt, cumin seeds (jeera), and carom seeds (ajwain).
• Additions: White sesame seeds (til) are a key ingredient for flavor and texture.
• Fat: Butter or hot oil is added to the dough to make the chakli crunchy.
• Liquid: Water is used to form a smooth, pliable dough that is then pressed into spiral shapes using a mould before deep-frying.
