| The major action of chloroquine is to block the formation of hemozoin (Hz) from the heme produced by the digestion of hemoglobin. |
| The free heme cause lyses of the membranes resulting in the death of parasite. |
| Resistance of chloroquine is due to reduced accumulation of chloroquine in the food vacuole. |

| Precautions & How to Use |
| It should be taken with food to reduce the risk of stomach upset. |
| Eye examination prior to and at 3-6 monthly intervals during use is required if patients are receiving Chloroquine at continuous high doses for longer duration |
| When patient start taking the medication sometime it cause blurring of vision. if it affects concentration please do not drive. |
| It may cause low blood sugar level. If patient have diabetes the monitoring of blood sugar level is needed. |
| If patient take medication longer time it needed to monitor amount of different blood cell by some testes. |
