Decorative chrome plating is usually applied over Nickel and the surface preparation can provide an appearance range from dull to satin to bright. Combinations of Chrome and Nickel will provide significant corrosion resistance.
Duplex application of Nickel under Chrome is often applied for exterior use. Chrome plating will comply with RoHS - Eurpoean Union requirements in most applications. Abrasion resistance and hardness are characteristics specific to Chrome plating and contribute to its usefulness as a protective decorative finish.
