Cilnidipine

o blocks both L and N type calcium channel thereby prevents entry of calcium inside the cell and causes vasodilation which is the advantage of cilnidipine over other calcium channel blockers. Whenever there is a vasodilation caused by arterial vasodilators, the sympathetic nervous system is activated and causes tachycardia and vasoconstriction of capillaries. o All CCBs except cilnidipine block only L type,where,these sympathetic over activities are manifested as side effects like urinary albumin excretion and ankle edema.
