This classically styled anchor lamp is hand constructed from fine solid copper and brass, and then polished to a glorious shine. This anchor lamp also features a glass-encased OIL lamp which is fully functional using standard lamp oil. Traditionally, all ships anchored in port were required to display one or two “anchor lamps” to alert other vessels to the fact that the ship was securely anchored in port. Furthermore, the lamps had to emit light in all directions, so that it could be seen from a distance of up to two miles in normal conditions.
