Clofi 25 is prescribed to treat infertility in women caused by ovulation problems. This drug is most likely effective in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), amenorrhea-galactorrheoa syndrome, psychogenic amenorrhoea, post-oral-contraceptive amenorrhoea and other secondary cases of amenorrhoea. This drug is also used in treating male infertility by increasing spermatogenesis, and is found effective in treating secondary male hypogonadism.Clofi 25 contains 25mg of the active ingredient Clomiphene citrate. This drug is an anti-oestrogen which works by blocking the oestrogen receptors in the hypothalamus. Oestrogen sends negative feedback to the pituitary gland preventing it from releasing hormones that control the production and release of an egg. With blocked oestrogen receptors, the signals to the pituitary gland is stopped thereby increasing the hormones to stimulate the ovaries in making and releasing an egg for ovulation. This drug does not immediately produce an ovulation but starts a chain reaction that leads to an ovulation.
