cashew nut shell liquid cashewnut shell liquid (cnsl) is a soō honey comb structure cont aining dark reddish brown viscose liquid that contains phenolic compounds, mainly cardanol. Cardanol is a monohydroxyl phenol with a long carbon chain in the metaposiɵon. It has the potenɵal as a subsɵtute for phenol in resin phenolic-base chemical products. It is considered to be beʃer as well as cheaper material for unsaturated phenols. Cnsl is a versaɵle product and is used in polymer based industries like fricɵon linings, paints and varnishes, rubber compounding and laminaɵng resins, surfactants, foundry chemicals, polyurethane-based polymers, epoxy resins and so on. Packing: 200 kg standard drum packing or as per customer's requirement chemical composiɵon of cnsl: cnsl is a mixture of four components: all are subsɵtuted phenols - anacardic acid, cardanol, cardol and 2-methylcardol. The first two are monohydric phenols whereas the other two are dihydric phenols. Each component again is a mixture of four structurally related monomers, the difference being only in the degree of unsaturaɵon. Thus, cardanol is a mixture of a four components: saturated (~5%), monoene (~49%), diene(l6.8%) and triene (29.3%). (this makes the chemistry of addiɵon polymerisaɵon essenɵally complex).
