Avani Organics has carved niche as a well-reckoned Manufacturer and Supplier of Cocopeat. Cocopeat, offered by us, is in extensive demand in nurseries, plantations, horse stables, agricultural lands, and for horticulture purposes. We are offering Cocopeat in poly propylene and LD bags. What is Cocopeat?

Coco peat (Cocopeat), also known as coir pith, coir fiber pith, or coir dust is made from coconut husks, which are by-products of other industries that use coconut skin. Cocopeat is the binding material that comes from the fibre fraction of the coconut husk. Coir waste from coir fiber industries is washed, heat-treated, screened and graded before being processed into coco peat products for Horticultural and Agricultural applications. Coco peat is a proven natural alternative to mined peat moss, therefore using it helps slow down peat extraction from environmentally sensitive swamps worldwide. Used as a growing medium, Coco peat outperforms most of the popular brands of Peat and Sphagnum Peat. Coco Peat holds water rather than shedding it like traditional peat does! It retains water 8-9 times of its weight. Cocopeat holds water well, re-wets well from dry and holds around 1000 times more air than soil. Cocopeat has the ability to store and release nutrients to plants for extended periods. It also has great oxygenation properties that are important for healthy root development. Adding slow release fertilizers or organic fertilizers are highly advised when growing with coco peat. it is free of bacteria and most fungal spores, and is sustainably produced without the environmental damage caused by peat mining. Coco Peat is very slow to disintegrate, whereas peat breaks down within two years after application, Coco Peat begins to fall apart only when it becomes 10 years old. Therefore it offers long term benefits to the users. Coco peat products are graded on the basis of specific particle sizes and fibre content. These grading provide a more accurate growing media exactly tailored to each growing application. Particle size grading now allows for a wider spectrum of range of water retention capacities, air filled porosity and bulk density, to suit seasonal climate conditions and specific crop production. Coco peat is also used as a soil additive. Due to low levels of nutrients in its composition, coco peat is usually not the sole component in the medium used to grow plants. When plants are grown exclusively in coco peat, it is important to add nutrients according to the specific plants' needs. Coco peat can be re-used up to three times with little loss of yield. Coco peat from diseased plants should not be re-used. Wholesale and retail distributors of horticultural and gardening products have the opportunity to offer your customers a range of Cocopeat products that are easy to use, natural, organic and environment-friendly. Cocopeat is mixed with sand, compost and fertilizer to make good quality potting soil. Coco peat generally has acidity in the range of pH - 5.5 to 6.5. It is a little on the acidic side for some plants, but most plants can tolerate this pH range.

How To Use Cocopeat For Growing Plants?

  • Potting : Fill the tray loosely with Avani Organics cocopeat and plant with minimum firming. Add water as per requirement. Potting soil may be mixed with planting medium at 1:2 ratio and used as a soil conditioner.
  • Re-Potting : While re-potting, do not disturb any plants, first water and let drain. To remove the plant, tap or squeeze the pot, turn it upside down carefully, supporting the plant in one hand. Sharply tap the tray to release the plant, but do not disturb the root ball.
  • Soil Conditioning : For every type of soil, environmentally friendly Avani Organics Cocopeat is ideal as a soil conditioner. Since it is fibrous it will help break up clay soils, giving friability and drainage. In sandy soils, it will bond together to retain moisture, and vital nutrients.
  • Seed Germination : Fill seed tray with Avani Organics cocopeat, level off, pack lightly, water well and allow draining. Sow seeds as required. Water sparingly, cover with black plastic, or glass to retain moisture and keep out light. Maintain correct temperature of 18'  21C (64' 70F). It will also protect the roots from frost during the winter and scorching sun during the summer. During the winter, perennials can be protected from severe weather by a mulch of 2.5  5cm (1-2). Work this into the surrounding soil in the spring.
  • Watering : Coir holds more water that any peat based medium. Adjust watering accordingly by initially checking the weight of the pot. Coir may appear dry on the top surface but be sufficiently moist beneath.
  • Fertilizing : Provide fertilizer as per necessity, the quantity varies as per growth. Take local suggestion as well.
