Coffee, is the most popular drink in many parts of the world including America, consumption is increasing all across globe including India. Only the limiting factor was social distancing which was in place due to Covid 19 that has resulted in decline in out-of-home consumption of coffee. Coffee is one of the largest traded commodities across the globe. There are two major species of coffee – Arabica and Robusta. Karnataka is the leading coffee growing state in India with contribution over 70%. Coffee producing districts in Karnataka are Coorg, Chikmagalur and Hassan. Coffee is also grown in parts of Kerala and Tami Nadu besides non-traditional areas smaller contribution to the total output. Major trading centres for coffee included: Hassan, Kushalnagar and Chickmagalur. India has the share of only about 5% in global crop output. Brazil & Vietnam are the leading producers of coffee. Factors influence coffee prices are: crop production in India and other countries, weather progress, stock levels with various participants, consumption trend etc.
