Traditional method of making castor oil.
Castor (amanakku) seed is plucked from the plant. It is dehulled.Crushed by pounding (later chekku and much later expellers and motorised metallic chekku have been used for this process).
During the above process , the castor seeds becomes cake like. This castor cake is removed and heated.
The oil starts floating and it is removed.
