    citric acid is classified as weak acid and organic compound. It contains carboxylic bond and has a sour taste. Large amount of citric acid contains in fruit and vegetables, such as lemon and limes. The physical property of citric acids is a white crystalline powder when stored at room temperature. Citric acid occurs in the form of anhydrous, which crystallized from hot water, or monohydrate that crystallized from cold water.
    Citric acid’s ability to chelate to metals makes it useful in soaps and laundry detergents. The chelation of metals in hard water allows foaming without the need for water softening.
    application:
    in food industry, citric acid can be used as ph adjustment, preservative, antioxidant agent, sequestering agent, acidulate, and flavour enhancer.
    Citric acid is also utilized in pharmaceutical industry as ph adjustment and antioxidant agent. Combination between citric acid and bicarbonates are used as effervescent and as an anticoagulant.
    In metal cleaning, citric acid can remove metal oxides for operational cleaning iron and copper oxides while in industrial application, citric acid is used for buffer agent and neutralize agent.
    Other uses of citric acid are in ceramic manufacture, ion complexion, leather tanning, copper plating, floor cement, adhesives, waste treatment, electroplating, textiles, bottle washing compound, etc.
