Established in 1971, the organization was a brainchild of Late Sh. Mahabir Prasad Shroff and his elder son, Late Mr Ashok Shroff. In 1973, his other younger sons, Mr Ajit Shroff and Mr Anup Shroff joined the business and helped them drive the organization to constantly increasing levels of success.
Late Sh. Mahabir Prasad brought with him his unbeaten expertise, sharp business acumen, and an uncanny knack required for timeless survival in this industry. He had earned many accolades in his professional life. To list a few of them, he was the co-founder of ‘The Punjab Cotton Company (Export-Import) Ltd. (Est. 1950); which then was an established raw cotton supplier and a premier cotton exporter in India. Later he became a partner in ‘Gopiram Poddar& Company’, an organization popular as one of the biggest exporters and suppliers of raw cotton in India at that time. However, after establishing his own endeavour - The National Group, he started investing all his time and resources into making it a huge success. To start with, he primarily laid focused on export and supply of raw cotton; but very soon, he started dealing in iron and steel as well. Today, the organization has diversified into multiple products like tea, kapok, and polyester staple fibre.
