Crookes Radiometer

This radiometer works like a solar engine and converts light into motion and demonstrates radial heat. An evacuated glass bulb contains a fine pivot at its center which supports four light weight metal arms, each carrying a vane of mica with one side blackened. Expose the bulb to the sunlight or the high light levels and you can watch the vanes spin as the black sides absorb more heat than the white ones.
