Cumin seed

Cumin or jeera(in sanskrit) is the seed of the cuminumcyminum plant, a member of the parsley family. The cumin plant grows to 30–50 cm in height. On maturity, the slender, plantdark green or grey stem of the plant forms a canopy of branches and sub-branches that bear ovoid fruits, each containing a single cumin seed. A cumin seed is oblong in shape, has eight longitudinal ridges and is yellow-brown in colour.cumin's high essential oil content lends it a distinct nutty-peppery flavour and strong, earthy aroma.
