Descriptions : Turmeric has an aromatic rhizome,large leaves,and yellow flowers with pink bracts. Large elliptic pointed leaves grow sheathed from base.Maroon band on both sides of midrib of the leaves.Root flesh is bright red.

Medicinal Uses : In chinese medicine the root stimulates circulation,resolves bruishes and clots, and it is a Thai treatment for cobra venom.Research shows turmeric strenghens the gall bladder,inhibits dangerous blood clotting,reduces some liver toxins and helps it metabolize fats(possibly assisting weight loss);and has an anti-inflamatory,non-steroidal action.Zeodary has reduced carvical cancer in trials,and increased the effectiveness od radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The honey coloured rhizomes is used in China to treat epileptic convulsions.Bright orange root flesf is boiled and dried for culinary use. Zeodary has pink and yellow flowers with green and red bracts,and a pale yellow,camphor scented rhizome which yields an essencial oil.
