Points of Interest
Not to be confused with the fresh berry known as currant, dried currants are actually made from Zante grapes from Greece, also known as Black Corinth grapes. The name currant is believed to come from the phrase "raisins de Corauntz" (Raisins of Corinth). Dried currants are smaller than traditional raisins and are extremely sweet and aromatic. They are a popular addition to baked goods and are great for use in slightly savoury dessert items.
