Contact SupplierThe durability of a sofa is determined by its frame and foam, not its upholstery. Upholstery can be changed, but a weak frame or low-density foam cannot be fixed without rebuilding the sofa. WoodAge Interiors manufactures sofas at our Gurugram factory focusing on these two structural elements.
The frame is built from kiln-dried sal or teak hardwood. Kiln-drying reduces the wood moisture content to between 8 and 12 percent. Air-dried wood commonly used by local upholsterers retains 15 to 25 percent moisture, which slowly evaporates in air-conditioned rooms, causing joints to loosen and frames to creak within a few years. Our joints are double-doweled, glued, and screwed, not stapled.
Seat cushions use 40-density high-resilience foam. This density provides firm support and recovers its shape after compression. Lower density foams, such as 28 or 32 density, develop permanent sag within one to two years of daily use. Back cushions use lower density foam for softer comfort. All foam is wrapped in non-woven fabric before upholstery to prevent friction damage.
We manufacture 2-seater, 3-seater, L-shape, and sectional configurations. Dimensions are customized to your living room. You select the seat depth, back height, arm width, and leg style. Upholstery options include fabric, leatherette, and genuine leather. Fabric options offer removable, washable covers.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What foam density should I insist on for a sofa in India?A: Ask for 40-density high-resilience foam for the seat cushions. If the manufacturer cannot provide a specific density number and uses vague terms like "high-density" or "premium foam", it is likely lower density. Anything below 35 density for seat cushions will show visible sag within 12 to 18 months.
Q: How long does a kiln-dried wood sofa frame last?A: A properly constructed kiln-dried hardwood frame with dowelled and screwed joints typically lasts 12 to 15 years under normal household use. The limiting factor is usually the foam and upholstery wearing out before the frame fails, at which point the sofa can be re-upholstered.
