Cutch Blocks

Cutch Block or Catechu extract is obtained from Heart Wood of Acacia catechu tree found in India. Cutch extract contains Catechol type of tannins.

CE Block ( 25 kg block with 51 to 60 % Tannins)

Features :

• It is Catechol type (Condensed) Tanning material

• It bears high acidity

• It is more astringent penetrates fast may be used for primary tanning

• It can be alternative for Mimosa OR Queberach

• It yields dark colour brownish to reddish leather.

Tanning properties

• It is catechol type tanning material can be recommended for primary tanning

• It is having high tannin Non tannin ratio.

• It penetrates faster & better

• It is more astringent & dark in colour. It yields brown colour leather

• For heavy leather it can replaced with Mimosa OR Queberacho OR can be blend with wattle

• It gives excellent fastness to leather & protects from mildew attack

• It given protection to leather against water & salts.

• Cutch tannin is most suitable for Heavy leather, sole leather, leather utilized in salty water conditions.

Dying application

• It is widely used in tanning and dying of leather because of its fast, standardized and settled results.

• It produces brown and olive hues with different mordant. It has resistance property to mildew attack
