Cutch Powder appears as a fine, reddish to dark brown powder with a typical mesh size of 80 to 100. It contains approximately 55–65% tannins and 5–10% catechin. The powder has a slightly bitter, astringent taste and is soluble in hot water. It has a moisture content below 10% and is free from added preservatives or chemicals. The pH of a 1% aqueous solution ranges between 4.0 and 5.5. The product is 100% plant-based, non-toxic, and has a shelf life of up to 2 years when stored in a cool, dry place in sealed packaging. It is available in bulk or retail packs, typically ranging from 100g to 25kg.
