Laminated Stator Rotor DC Shunt Motor

A DC Shunt Motor is a type of direct current motor where the field windings are connected in parallel (shunt) with the armature. It typically operates on a rated voltage of 220V or 440V DC, depending on the model and application. Power ratings range from fractional horsepower to several hundred horsepower. These motors provide a nearly constant speed under varying load conditions, making them ideal for applications requiring precise speed control. The speed range is generally 500 to 3000 RPM with excellent speed regulation characteristics. The insulation class is usually B or F, and the duty cycle is continuous (S1). The motor has a laminated stator and rotor with high-grade copper windings for efficient performance. Efficiency can range from 75% to 90% depending on the load and size. Ambient operating temperatures range from -10°C to +45°C. Cooling is typically provided by self-ventilation (IC01) or forced cooling (IC06 or IC411) for higher power ratings. The enclosure may vary from open drip-proof (ODP) to totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC), with an IP rating of IP21 to IP55. These motors are widely used in lathes, conveyors, textile machinery, and lifts where smooth and adjustable speed is essential.
