uses:

dexmedetomidineselective alpha - 2 receptor agonist with a broad spectrum of pharmacological properties. with sympatholytic effect through the decrease of norepinephrine release in sympathetic nerve endings. sedative effects mediated by inhibition of the locus coeruleus, the predominant noradrenergic nucleus, located in the brain stem. analgesic and anesthetic / analgesic sparing effects. dose - dependent cardiovascular effects; with lower perfusion rates, central effects with decreased heart rate and blood pressure dominate. with higher doses, the peripheral vasoconstrictor effects with increased systemic vascular resistance and blood pressure, while the bradycardia effect is increased.
