Positive Displacement Flow Meter Positive displacement flow meters get their name from their ability to meter discrete ‘pockets’ of liquid This is usually done by metering the fluid through a chamber of fixed volume, thereby splitting the fluid up into finite segments with a known volume. If the volume going through the flow meter is known, it can simply be recorded with a geared mechanical register or used to give an output of so many pulses per set volume
