Contact SupplierMaterial handling equipment in the mining industry must be ruggedly built, reliable, and designed with weight efficiency in mind for greater productivity. When the OEM needed a company to manufacture steel dipper buckets for this demanding application, they knew to turn to Industrial Maintenance Welding & Machining. Using customer supplied materials to manufacture the dipper; we used our CNC horizontal boring mill for machined bores to tight tolerances of ±0.001". Industrial's welding equipment was then called into play to join the steel, producing a mammoth bucket that was 18' long, 18' high, and 28' wide. The shell of the structure, designed with high cheeks to slice through banks of material, was ¾" thick with 1" thick liners. Once the bores and welding were completed, a final finish of paint was applied. Industrial Maintenance Welding & Machining now manufactures five to ten of these buckets a year with a deliveryturnaround time of only three months. On this particular project, Industrial Maintenance was guided by customer specifications and a 2D CAD drawing, all the while adhering to American Welding Society standards of D.1.1 and higher.
