DM plant, which is also known as deionization plant, is an Ion exchange technology. It is the procedure of separating mineral salts from water. It is done by using the ion exchange process. When soluble chemical compounds get dissolved in water, they become ionizes.
Take an example of common table salt. Consider salt sodium chloride. When it is in solid form, it has one sodium atom (Na) and one chlorine atom (Cl). It means NaCl. When the compounds get dissolved in water, it breaks into two ions Na+ and Cl.
The DM plant has minimum two resin columns necessarily. These columns are known as Cation and Anion. The cation unit has resins in H form, whereas Anion resins are in OH form. It helps convert positive ions of salt and restores them with hydrogen ions in order to form respective acids. These acids further are absorbed by Anion unit. The water you get from this process shows conductivity less than 30 μScm and Total Dissolved Solids less than 10 ppm. So by using DM plant you are able to obtain high purity water.
