Dobutamine hcl is the hydrochloride salt form of dobutamine, a synthetic catecholamine with direct inotropic activity. Dobutamine hydrochloride mimics the effects ofdopamine and stimulates beta-1 adrenergic receptors located in the myocardium. This leads to an increase in heart rate and force and results in an increase in cardiac output.

dobutamine hydrochloride is a white to off-white solid. It is soluble in water (10 mgml, with gentle heating), ethanol (20 mgml, with gentle heating), methanol, pyridine, and dmso (100 mm) with melting range of 188°c to 189°c.
