In this beautiful brass figure of the Goddess Durga, the artist has shown lot of acumen and a passion for excellence. Here the goddess is shown overpowering Mahishasur with her weapon. Goddess Durga is worshipped across the country and Durga Puja is one of the most popular festivals for the people of North India (especially people of Bengal). Her idols are worshipped for three days and then immersed in water bodies. The goddess was created out of the combined powers and forces of all gods and goddesses to eliminate Mahishasur, the demon who wrought havoc on Earth and heaven. Eventually, Durga killed the demon and the killing is symbolised as a victory of the good over the evils since then. During Durga Puja pandals are organised where nicely decorated idols of Goddess Durga, Mahishasur, Ganesha and other gods are placed and are immersed on the last day of the festival.
