This is to select the mode of operation of the E.C.T. if this switch is kept to the position \\\'Direct\\\' the direct operation of the E.C.T is possible. That is as long as the press switch \\\'8\\\' is kept pressed the current passes. If this switch is kept at the timer position and the switch \\\'8\\\' is kept pressed, the passage of current automatically stops after the set time. E.C.T. can be operated on Ectonus mode by keeping the mode switch at Ectonus position. While operating E.C.T. on Ectonus mode, the current can be gradually increased till the patient convulses and after the convulsion takes place the ectonus control is turned back. Need of anesthesia can be avoided by this method since violent convulsion is avoided.
