    Description of Equipment
This unit is a portable cart used for flushing and contaminant testing of the integrated drive generator (IDG) and associated cooling system in some engines supplied on 747, and 767 airplanes. The engines involved are manufactured by Rolls Royce; the IDG's are manufactured by Sundstand. Flushing in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions reduces or eliminates generator malfunctions and failures due to contamination.
The cart is a portable self-contained steel unit, supported by large diameter foam-filled swivel casters, and equipped with a floorlock and forklift channels. The cart has two louvered access doors on the front that are secured by a CalCert seal during normal use. Side and rear enclosure panels are louvered for ventilation and are attached with screws.
The cart incorporates a vented tank of approximately 40 gallon capacity containing Stoddard Solvent (BMS3-2C, type 1). Supply and return hoses are attached to the top of the enclosure. Hoses are stored coiled in containers provided on the top of the enclosure.
All electrical equipment on the cart meets requirements for operation in a hazardous atmosphere (NEMA class 1, group D Div. 1, Explosion proof) Electrical components require 120208 Vac, 3 phase, 60 HZ, 30A power, suitable for motor operation. A grounding cable is provided for connection to earthairplane ground.
All user controls and gauges are mounted n a sloped instrument panel, which forms part of the steel enclosure.
A capped male fitting for nitrogen supply is located on the left side of the enclosure. Nitrogen is used to purge solvent from the IDG and the hoses prior to disconnecting.
This flushing cart provides solvent flow of 15 GPM at a regulated pressure less than 250 PSIG for flushing and contamination testing. Refer to Boeing and manufacturer specifications listed in section 7 for detailed information.
Unit is mounted on pneumatic casters, with electric powered pump.
