Fenugreek

Botanical name: Trigonella foenum-graecum

Fenugreek is an annual plant in the family Fabaceae. It is a plant in the trigonella (grains) genus that is similar in appearance to wild clover.

Benefits and uses:

Fenugreek has three culinary uses: as an herb (dried or fresh leaves), as a spice (seeds), and as a vegetable (fresh leaves, sprouts, and micro greens). It is used in curry spices, chutneys, young salad greens, chewing gum, gelatins, and in other sweet confectionery treats

The Ayurveda, it used for many therapeutic preparations.

It helps to support healthy blood-glucose and cholesterol levels. Its soothing mucilage helps to relieve sore throat pain and cough. The steroid diosgenin in Fenugreek is colon cancer preventive, also applied to the skin to treat inflammation.
