A fire extinguisher, or extinguisher, is an active fire protection device used to extinguish or control small fires, often in emergency situations. Typically, a fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent which can be discharged to extinguish a fire. Type of agent used depends on kind of fire to be protected, convenience of use and cost to be incurred. Types of agents used to dose out fire are Water, CO2, Dry Chemical Powder (Mono-Ammonium Phosphate) and mechanical foam.
