In a floating type ball valve, the ball is suspended in the flowing fluid and is retained in location by the compression of two elastomeric seats counter to it. This design of floating type ball valve is lightweight and economic, which matches bore sizes upto 10 inches: above this bore size, the seats of the valve will not be able to endure weightier and heavier balls and the valve would not work or operate securely and efficiently.
Floating type ball valve provides a bi-directional shut-off of the liquid flow (as the trunnion ball valve type).
